Dr Dawn Kaffel
I have worked as a couple’s counsellor for 24 years. Relationship difficulties can be challenging, but my extensive experience has given me an insight into the importance of helping clients sustain a more stable, fulfilling life that works for them and grows stronger over time. I work with both individuals and couples to help gain clarity and understanding to help manage the struggles we can all face at times. I focus on moving forwards towards growth and change.
As part of my professional development I am further trained in family mediation and cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT). I have a particular interest is working with the evidence-based emotional focused therapy (EFT). This approach helps partners make sense of their negative stuck patterns of interaction. It enables them to move towards a feeling of safety and connection and to recognise and understand their fighting patterns so they can step back from them and talk about it instead of getting caught in it.
I offer relationship counselling to same-sex and heterosexual individuals and couples and my clients come from a wide range of different backgrounds, cultures and religions. I offer an impartial and empathic approach in a confidential and caring setting.
I am a fully accredited BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy) couples counsellor having trained and worked as a psychodynamic couple’s therapist at London Marriage Guidance (now the Tavistock Centre for Couple Relationships) and as a Relate Licensed practitioner.
Appointments are held during daytimes, evenings and Sunday mornings. I can see clients via Skype or Zoom.
