Dr Jocelyne Kenny
I am a Doctor of Clinical Psychology with over 10 years’ experience working in the NHS and private practice. I have particular expertise and experience in working with families and couples, and have undertaken two years of additional training at the Tavistock Centre reflecting this interest. I am currently training in Family Therapy at Kings College London, in addition to my work as a clinical psychologist.
I am a mother to three young children and so appreciate the joys and frustrations that family life, and being a parent and wife can bring. My approach to working with families and couples recognises that there is no ‘right way’ to do family life or be in a relationship. I therefore focus on what is important and meaningful to families and couples; I place this at the centre of the therapeutic work. I often help families and couples through changes that are part and parcel of life e.g. parenting young children or children becoming teenagers, as well as changes that are less predictable e.g. family injury / illness or divorce / separation. I have worked extensively with parents who are separating, struggling to co-parent or navigating how best to ‘blend’ step families. I am comfortable working in high conflict situations and also with the chaos that family life can bring.
I am professional, but also warm and approachable. I am very open minded, and my competent, non-judgmental and easy style enables people to talk about difficult and emotional things, whilst feeling safe and reassured.
I am registered with HCPC (Health and Care Professions Council), which upholds high standards in professional codes of practice, qualification and ongoing training.
