Dr Amanda-Jane Wood
I am a Chartered Doctor of Psychology with 15 post doctorate years’ experience in private practice and the NHS. I specialise in adult mental health with adults and young people. I have worked in wide range of clinical settings: NHS inpatient setting, domestic violence agencies, occupational health and NHS chronic pain management programmes.
I can draw upon a range of therapeutic models, tailoring therapy to my client’s needs including: psychodynamic, cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), hypnotherapy, mindfulness and motivational interviewing. I have a special interest in anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, anger management, loss and bereavement, trauma, eating disorders, altered body images, chronic illness and pain.
I am Chartered by the British Psychology Society (BPS) and registered with HCPC (Health and Care Professions Council), which upholds high standards in professional codes of practice, qualification and ongoing training.
I am approved by the following private insurance companies: Allianz, Aviva, BUPA International, Cigna, Vitality, WPA and Healix.
