Dr Anne Marie Jervis Read
I am a Chartered Clinical Psychologist and Fellow of the British Psychological Society (BPS). I trained at the prestigious Institute of Psychiatry and have 30 years’ experience in the NHS and in private practice.
My work in the NHS has been very varied and has ranged from working with children and young people in Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) and this has involved educating and supporting parents, family work and working directly with the child or young adult.
In my adult practice, I work with a range of mental health issues to find a resolution to issues such as depression, trauma, self-harm, anxiety, obsessive compulsive disorder, eating disorder, obesity, phobias, and employment related stress. I undertake medico legal work specialising in personal injury. Should you be experiencing a general loss of motivation and personal self-esteem, especially in the current pandemic of COVID-19, I can address the impact that this may be having on your mental health and wellbeing.
My approach is eclectic and inclusive. I can personalise my therapy to my clients, drawing on the wide range of therapeutic and evidence-based therapies, including; cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT), mindfulness, solution focused therapy, motivational interviewing and acceptance and commitment therapy. My primary objective when we first meet is always to foster a warm and empathic relationship as I know that success of treatment depends significantly on a positive therapeutic relationship where we can work together to promote a positive outcome.
I am registered with HCPC (Health and Care Professions Council), which upholds high standards in professional codes of practice, qualification and ongoing training.
