Dr Carrie Emery
I am a Doctor of Counselling Psychology. I work with stress, anxiety, depression, trauma, interpersonal difficulties, compulsions, life transitions, stress, and school issues. I have extensive experience working with Eating Disorders (Anorexia Nervosa, Bulimia Nervosa, Binge Eating Disorder) and have a special interest in Pre- and Peri-natal Psychology ((in)fertility, pregnancy, birth [prep and trauma], and parenting).
I work within an integrative framework, drawing on several different therapeutic models in order to create a personalised program of support for each client. I largely draw on Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, humanistic therapy and Schema Therapy as well as incorporating techniques from Compassion Focused Therapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy.
I worked in the NHS for 5 years in a variety of settings (Eating Disorders, Learning Disabilities, Drug & Alcohol Dependence), before working for a private Psychology service as a Senior Associate, specialising in Eating Disorders. I recently set up my own private practice, intent on focusing on developing my skills in Schema Therapy and working predominantly with clients struggling with fertility or parenting difficulties.
I am registered with HCPC (Health and Care Professions Council), which upholds high standards in professional codes of practice, qualification and ongoing training.
