Dr Kemi Komolafe
I am a Doctor of Clinical Psychology with 5 years of experience of working for the NHS and I deliver evidence-based therapies and specialise in working with adults, families, children and young people. I aim to provide a sensitive, responsive, warm, non-judgemental space for people to share their experiences. I work with cultural sensitivity and the individuals’ wider environment in mind and ensure that those I sit with feel respected, heard and supported on their journey. I can appreciate the intensity that life can sometimes bring whether that be due to work, relationships or other personal conflicts. As such, I hope to encourage people I work with to meet their needs and consider carefully how best to balance the demands of life.
I can offer support in a wide range of mental health issues such as anxiety, depression and trauma. My work with a specialist NHS Feeding Team in London involves supporting families and children with restrictive eating, This entails understanding the family structure and relationship to food, implementing evidence based therapies to address restrictive feeding, sensory difficulties, anxiety, food phobias and adjustment difficulties. I also work for a Human Rights Charity for survivors of human cruelty, state torture, human trafficking and exploitation.
I start each piece of work in a person-centred manner. I can adapt my approach depending on your need and adopt a variety of therapeutic models such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Narrative Exposure Therapy (NET), Compassion Focussed Therapy (CFT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Mindfulness for individuals.
I am registered with HCPC (Health and Care Professions Council), which upholds high standards in professional codes of practice, qualification and ongoing training.
