Dr Keren Smith
I am a Chartered Doctor of Clinical Psychology. I qualified 2008 so have over 15 years’ post doctorate experience. I trained at University College London and now work at the world-renowned South London and Maudsley Foundation Trust.
I set up with my NHS colleagues the pioneering National and Specialist Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) Service for adolescents and young people. An a senior staff member I work with both adults and young people. In my private practice I see adults and adolescents with a wide range of difficulties.
I offer CBT and mindfulness practice for people presenting with anxiety (including obsessive-compulsive disorder [OCD], specific phobia, panic disorder, health anxiety and social anxiety), work stress and low mood and self-esteem. I also have significant experience in working with eating disorders. I work regularly with relationships, including working with people who are experiencing or have experienced abusive relationships.
I have a specialist interest in working with people with a history of trauma and symptoms associated with PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder) and Complex PTSD. I have completed further training in specialist trauma focused models including EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) and DBTPE (Dialectical Behaviour Therapy Prolonged Exposure). I also have an interest in working with people who use drugs or alcohol to manage their emotions. I offer a range of effective and evidence-based approaches, including attachment-based family therapy and works with families to improve relationships and family functioning.
I regularly present at national and international conferences and provide teaching and training to a range of organisations as well as offering both team and individual clinical supervision.
I am registered with HCPC (Health and Care Professions Council), which upholds high standards in professional codes of practice, qualification and ongoing training.
