Child, Adolescent and Family
What we can help with and what others say about us.
Me and my colleagues see young people or adolescents with a range of issues related to their mood, work/school or relationships. I use a range of skills and therapeutic psychological approaches to create an open therapeutic space which allows a person to reflect on their situation, find ways to express or understand the things going on in their life and to identify and develop new useful skills. In my work with young people I adapt my work to use age appropriate language and ideas. If you are a parent of a young person I may encourage you to come to a first session if the young person would like you there, but at some point I would be looking to meet with the young person on their own. The sessions are confidential, so as a routine I do not speak to parents in between sessions, but there may be opportunity for parents to join us in later sessions if that is deemed helpful and in agreement with the young person. I am enhanced CRB checked.

“I had seen a few psychologists before but Siobhan was by far the best. Made me feel very supported and comfortable. Was able to help me develop coping strategies that worked. Would recommend to anyone.”

“My mum and I went to see Dr Siobhan McCarthy as we needed some help with our relationship as mother and daughter. The sessions have been invaluable and our relationship has improved immensely. I have learnt so much about myself, my family system and this in turn has had a positive effect on all of my relationships, it’s been truly life changing. I can’t recommend and thank Dr Siobhan MaCarthy enough for her wonderful work.“
