Dr Lisa Dvorjetz
In my private practice, I offer therapies that can address a wide range of mental health issues, with a special interest in long-term health conditions, palliative care and therapies which focus on the adjustment to change and loss. My training has given me the scientific knowledge founded in psychology to understand human behaviour combined with counselling skills to facilitate change. There are numerous therapeutic approaches available but I strongly believe that there is no one ‘right’ approach, which is why I integrate several evidence-based theories to what might be best suited to the client(s).
In couples work I focus on exploring patterns of relating and communication, helping people to look at how their way of relating impacts the wider couple system. Relationship counselling is tailored to the needs of the relationship, which means there is flexibility around the amount and frequency of sessions. These practicalities are discussed with the couple upon initial consultation.
My main NHS job is as a highly specialist counselling psychologist supporting cancer patients and their relatives. I also work within a Child and Adolescent Mental Health Team as a systemic practitioner and as a counselling psychologist within a paediatric clinical health service.
I am registered with HCPC (Health and Care Professions Council), which upholds high standards in professional codes of practice, qualification and ongoing training. In terms of private healthcare insurance providers, I am registered with: AXA, AVIVA, BUPA, WPA and CIGNA to name a few.
What clients say about working with Lisa
“Dr. Dvorjetz was excellent, I had about 7 or 8 individual sessions with her, and she was very empathetic listener as well as she gave me a lot of insightful comments and questions, which helped me gain better understanding of and control over my emotions and my situation altogether. All in all it was a really positive experience, that helped me get over some tough emotional challenges, and I’ve been recommending starting therapy to some of my friends in need myself as a result”.
