Dr Lisa Dvorjetz
I hold a Doctor of Counselling Psychologist and have 6 years post-doctorate experience in proving high quality evidence-based therapy.
In my private practice I offer therapies to adults and can address a wide range of mental health issues, with a special interest in long-term health conditions, palliative care, therapies which focus on the impact of loss and couple work. counselling isn’t about me giving you advice or solving your problems for you but rather it is about enabling you to find the best way to move forward emotionally and psychologically from a place of stuckness.
In couple work, I am interested in areas of communication, infidelity, parenting styles, life transition and wider family dynamics. Relationship counselling is tailored to the needs of the relationship, which means there is flexibility around the amount and frequency of sessions. These are discussed with the individuals in the relationship upon initial consultation.
My training has given me the scientific knowledge founded in psychology to understand human behaviour combined with counselling skills to facilitate change. There are numerous therapeutic approaches but I strongly believe that there is no one ‘right’ approach, which is why I integrate several evidence-based theories to what might be best suited to you.
In my NHS role I work for The East London NHS Foundation Trust (ELFT) as a highly specialist counselling psychologist supporting cancer patients and their relatives. I volunteer on a national bereavement helpline, ‘ask the expert’ service for a cervical cancer charity and as a clinical supervisor for a national charity helpline. I have also worked at The Royal Marsden Hospital, local hospices, a GP surgery, other NHS hospitals. I have had various roles in teaching and consultancy throughout the years.
I am registered with HCPC (Health and Care Professions Council), which upholds high standards in professional codes of practice, qualification and ongoing training.
I am registered with the following healthcare providers: AXA, AVIVA, BUPA, WPA and CIGNA to name a few.
What clients say about working with Lisa
“Dr. Dvorjetz was excellent, I had about 7 or 8 individual sessions with her, and she was very empathetic listener as well as she gave me a lot of insightful comments and questions, which helped me gain better understanding of and control over my emotions and my situation altogether. All in all it was a really positive experience, that helped me get over some tough emotional challenges, and I’ve been recommending starting therapy to some of my friends in need myself as a result”.
